We currently are seeking people with DRIVE to join our team of dedicated individuals. We are currently seeking an Assistant Fleet Manager to join our team. We are offering this position as either a 4-10 hour day afternoon shift position (approx. hours 2PM-midnight) OR a 5-8 hour afternoon shift Monday through Friday (4-midnight M-Th and days on Friday). We’re open to some flexibility in a schedule for the right candidate. This is a great opportunity for someone that would like to share their passion and knowledge in diesel mechanics! As an Assistant Fleet Manager with DSI you will not only work with our day shift Manager to assist in the supervision, training, and development our diesel mechanics and shop helpers, but you will also provide back up diesel mechanic assistance and troubleshooting as needed.
Provide oversight and direction as needed to our mechanics and shop helpers
Assist in the planning and scheduling of all preventative and on-time maintenance of our fleet to increase productivity
Perform inspections of repairs to ensure work orders are complete, thorough and in accordance with regulations. Provide constructive feedback including feedback regarding opportunities for improvement.
May be required to operate a company provided motor vehicle in order to pick up parts and/or personnel.
Test drive company fleet following maintenance to ensure top performance.
• Minimum of 5+ of years in heavy duty maintenance technician/mechanical experience.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and internet browsers.
• Must pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and background check
• Must hold and maintain a Class B CDL
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail is required
• Must have exceptional communication skills in order to effectively and tactfully deal with internal and external customers
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship or future sponsorship
Previous lead and/or supervisory experience is preferred.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of operating principals of diesel powered engines.
Ability to diagnose operating defects in diesel equipment to determine the type and extent of repairs needed.
Ability to maintain routine clerical records on equipment repaired.
Ability to plan, organize, and schedule shop duties.
Ability to frequently and safely push, pull, bend, twist, sit, stand, and occasionally lift up to 70 pounds
Ability to work around dust, fumes, chemicals, and loud noises
Working ability to read and follow written and oral instructions and to hear at a level sufficient to communicate with staff.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with peers, customers, and supervisors.
Ability to maintain a strong attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively and proficiently in both oral and written form.
Ability to work a consistent work schedule and punctuality is required
Ability to work independently.
Ability to adhere to company rules and regulations
Ability and desire to work successfully in a small, family owned environment.
Ability and desire to share knowledge and teach others.
