SUMMARY

Create a chemical database in our SDS authoring application (Chemdox) from an existing Excel document and raw material Safety Data Sheets (SDSs). Create SDSs from the database built in Chemdox. Occasionally run Quality Control tests for the Lab as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. The Lab Supervisor may assign other duties.

·       Create a substance database in our SDS authoring software, Chemdox.

·       Using the substance database, create Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for raw materials.

·       Use the raw material SDSs to create SDSs for finished products.

·       Update all SDS contact information in Sage 100 for customers.

·       Verify all information is correct and up to date in Sage 100.

·       Coordinate with Label team to verify Chemdox and Sage 100 all have accurate information.

·       Fills in for Quality Control Chemist as needed. Responsibilities include running qualification tests on products, neutralizing rinse out totes, and documenting any lab work that is done.

·       Lab Supervisor will assign other projects as needed.

·       Maintain a clean and safe workspace.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES 

·       Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

·       Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, customers, and employees.

·       Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

·       Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

·       Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

·       Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Can think creatively.

·       To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of ERP software; Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

·       Has a basic mechanical aptitude.

·       Synthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data; Designs work flows and procedures.

·       Must be self-motivated, energetic. Able to work in a fast paced environment.

·       Is organized and can work independently.                                       

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must have knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a current driver’s license.
